A bunch of old BART photos (with the promise of more to come) were posted to the SF Comical's (I mean Chronicle's) site today-see:
They mention that they may post a few more later today or tomorrow.....neat stuff.
(Yes, I am a geek. Why do you ask? :-D )

this doesn't happen on BART....
A driver on a MUNI train leaves one of the train doors open while the train is GOING through the tunnel. The driver eventually closes it, but there was someone standing right next to the opened train car who could of fallen out. You have to watch the video yourself:

I WANT TO IMPUT SOME IDEAS FOR THIS NEW E-BART OUT OF ANTIOCH.
THE NEW ADDITION SHOULD BE THE SAME GAGE TRACK THAT IS NOW USED ON BART. THE NEW CARS SHOULD BE IDENTICAL TO THE EXISTING BART CARS EXCEPT FOR THE WIDTH OF THE TRUCKS. THE NEW TRUCKS SHOULD BE ABOUT 1/2 INCH SHORTER THAN THE NOW EXISTING BART CARTS. THIS 1/2 INCH MAY ELIMINATE THE SCREACHING ON THE TIGHT TURNS.

Yes, I, too, was one of many who were unsucessful in applying for the recently
posted train operator job on BART. The whole process reeks of corruption that has become
so common in government.
First, you can only apply on-line. Since the BART website is deluged with applicants
the process is slow and subject to the website being unavailable. Then there are glitches
in the application process itself; the system stays stuck on the work history and won't
advance to the education area. Within fifteen minutes the job is no longer open.

Ok heres the deal I was online filing out my application at 9:00 and at 9:18 when I'm bout to submit my application the screen turns black and I get this message that they recieved the limit 400 applications WTF!! That is so messed up to just accept 400 hundred apps when 5 million people are going to apply for the job thats not qualified to do the job itself, this really ticks my off because I do have the expirence to apply for this position and was up and ready at the time posted but still wasnt the fastest typist @ 32 wpm. Wow I'm upset!

Monday: Into the city: Train leaves a few minutes late as usual from Fremont. Returning home: police activity at Hayward, Bart train stops dead for 20 minutes. Once it gets to station, it waits another 10 minutes.
Tuesday: Into the city: 6:36 a.m. train from Fremont...never shows up. Have to wait for 6:51 train, which also leaves late. No announcement, no explanation from Bart. I guess operators are cool with just not mentioning a non-existent train during rush hour? Returning home: transfer at Bayfair and wait 12 minutes for a train-- guess they're running behind again.

They can't even get the advisory on the website right! It still shows the one from 2/14 not the one from today about the train crash!!!

BART faces a challenging problem in its next fleet of cars, it is first and foremost a long distance commuter train, but is seeing rush hour capacities similar to that of inner city public transportation. So, how can BART continue to please the long term commuters, who are their main source of income, and also design for increasing passenger loads?
Some of the proposed design changes include:
_ adding a third door for increased passenger flow
_ providing more standing room by sacrificing some seating
_ adding unobtrusive bike storage

I just got off from a ride on car 365x, and the seat pitch on that car seems to be quite a lot less (2-3" less?) than on almost all the other cars on the system. I'm tall enough that I'm just barely comfortable--knees brushing the seat in front--on the regular seats, so that 2-3" made a very noticeable difference.
Anyone know anything? Is this some new design that they're testing out? (I hope not!)

I'm appalled that an advertisement appears at the BART station at Civic Center BART:
Stop Palestinian leaders from teaching violence and racism
posted by a group purporting to wage peace.
I am assuming this is a paid advertisement. What business does BART have to advertise and supporting a stance that it is Palestinian leaders who are promoting violence and racism when the people of Palestine are fighting for sovereignty and against Israeli occupation?

Guess WE HAVE to pay for the multi-million dollar overpass mistake. Disugsting.

Doesn't this just make your day with the crappy BART service we get in this struggling economy that frigging B gets $354,010 to make multi-million errors like the overpass the Dublin/Pleasanton station for starters. GET RID OF THIS OLD BAG and get someone who can do the job instead of raising fares and decreasing service and paying herself a BIG FAT FEE. ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

...and why do BART employees totally ignore it?
Every day when I am using BART I see people walking in and out of the emergency exit gates for BART who are CLEARLY not BART employees. Is it racist of me to point out that every single time I see someone do this they are Black?
It is so easy to get into BART that I have even seen some of them sneak into BART in Downtown SF and then scale the fences and squeeze between the gaps so they can get into MUNI for free since it is harder to sneak into MUNI.

Thanks to some excellent work by the Berkeley Police, the person who's been committing the armed robberies in North Berkeley has been caught and charged with the crimes.
See http://www.mercurynews.com/breaking-news/ci_16874278 for details.
Apparently, while they were at it, the Berkeley PD also arrested 8 other people for various crimes. Apparently more details will be forthcoming in the next several days. They're being a bit vague about things because some of the investigations are still in process.
