When is the Train Operator position going to be posted on WEbBART??? (I'm a current employee)

Hello all,

There seems to be more traffic on this site with current employees than RAILTALK. So I thought I would ask here too. I was told from others that FEB would be the month the position would be posted. There are a few days still, so that is still possible. But can any of you Train Operators verify. If so, how many? Thanks....

Hehe. Well, I'm not an employee in BART yet, but I'm trying to get my foot in the door at least. My dream job is Train Operator so I've been waiting for that position to be posted too. I'll bet a lot of people apply for that job more than any other. I can see why noticing that it MAY look easy. Think again! It's a whole lot more than just poking your head out the window and pushing buttons. It's been a while since I've been on this site. I used to ask a lot of questions about the train too. Well, I wish you the best of blessings on your journey to the Train Operator position.

See you on the rails.

I don't know if this is the case for Train Operators, but most of the jobs that are "posted" seem to be merely posted as a formality--the person who is going to get the job has already been decided but because of union rules, they go through the charade of accepting applications. If you read most job postings, they usually throw in an obscure qualification that very few people can meet, that way they don't have to give you the job, even though the person who eventually gets it probably doesn't.

Uhh yeah I can attest to

Uhh yeah I can attest to that. I work for a certain level of government and I was asked to take on my current position but they still had to "post" the job and I had to "interview" for the position (wink wink- literally what my boss did) to placate the ever powerful SEIU 790 (I'm not a member nor is my work clerical or service in nature) who'd rather have one of their lazy lifers take a position just to have a job instead of someone with the background, education and interest in the position. Sounds messed up, but in my field, it is important that certain jobs aren't filled with clerks looking to move around and underperform.

It wasn't on WebBART as of 5

It wasn't on WebBART as of 5 minutes ago. So not totally sure when it's gonna be posted.

Regarding posting jobs being a formality, that is certainly true for some positions, but in others (ie: System Service Worker Pool, Police Officer, Train Operator) most of them end up being external hires. In some cases, like HR director, it's clear who is gonna get the job from day one. So yes and no.

I saw a E-Letter tonight

I saw a E-Letter tonight that the T/O pool is full and they will post again in 2009. Anybody applied as long ago as 2006 is still in the running for the position.

I could've sworn I saw

I could've sworn I saw something like "Quality Assurance Auditor" posted on WebBART on Monday or Tuesday but it's gone now. What is a Quality Assurance Auditor?
