Pregnant = Disabled?

I was on a very crowded Richmond train and a pregnant woman sort of squeezed her way on. She walked through (Somewhat..more like shoved people out of her way) and started yelling out "Can anyone give their seat up for a pregnant woman?". People sitting in the disabled/elderly seats (who were clearly not disabled) just stared at her and wouldn't give them up. Finally a gentleman a few seats down the aisle gave up his seat.

IF I was sitting in a disabled seat...I would've given up my seat..Just because it seems like the right thing to do and when I get pregnant I'd like someone to give me their seat.=)

So were these people complete a-holes for just staring at and ignoring this woman?

Granted she was obnoxious by shoving her way through...but whatever....

Ordinarily, yes, I would give

Ordinarily, yes, I would give my seat up for a visibly pregnant woman. However, the chances that I would do so would go down exponentially if she was acting like the self-entitled bitch you describe.

I concur. People like her are

I concur. People like her are exactly who deserve the seats close to the door, as BART reminds us daily. However, I sort-of understand the feelings of those sitting in those seats that day. Why offer courtesy to someone who likely wouldn't give you the time of day otherwise?

Hello! being that she was

Hello! being that she was pregnant she may have had blood sugar issues and not realize it or any number of myriad medical problems associated with reproduction. I'd be as gentle with her as possible.

As a woman, I resent that you

As a woman, I resent that you would suggest that my species cannot control acting like a douchebag because of blood sugar, hormones, or the like. That's like the men who say they beat their wives/girlfriends because "I got so mad it was like I couldn't control it. It was like I was watching myself hit the bitch."

My position on the issue is unchanged -- I would (and have) given up my seat to many people, including pregnant women, without being asked. And, if for some reason I didn't notice someone who needed a seat and was nicely asked for mine, I almost certainly would do it. But a generalized yell demanding a seat is not going to do it for me.

What a bunch of petty babies.

What a bunch of petty babies. Maybe you should consider that the reason she said something in the first place is because most of the douchebags sitting in those seats go out of their way to avoid looking around to see if someone needs the seat. Also, being pregnant is considered a short term disability so get out of the fucking seat the next time you see someone who needs it. Too bad if she didn't present it the way you like, her tits/feet/back hurt, she needs to take a piss and she's probably gassy and has heartburn from lunch AND you assholes won't make eye contact with her because you suck.

Give up the Fucking Seat!!!!

Give up the Fucking Seat!!!! Only a woman would understand a Pregnant Woman would act like the Anti-christ and be rude. It's a given when you are pregnant. I would have let her have the seat. She's tired, uncomfortable and irritated by the slightest thing. She may have had a bad experience before she got on the train and then to get on.. only to find no seats was probably unbearable. She has an additional person inside of her who is asking for the most relief possible until he/she gets here...so when she gets on the train, there is not a kind soul to assist her with her journey or the little ones journey.

Give her the seat even if she

Give her the seat even if she was obnoxious, demanding/needy, and took BART knowing it would be crowded with no place to sit.

Exactly. But don't worry, you

Exactly. But don't worry, you still don't have to give up the handicap stall if you were able to outrun that bastard in a wheelchair to get there first. It's not your fault they can't use their legs. They just have to fucking wait.

You guys know me. I would of

You guys know me. I would of made sure everyone around me be ashamed of themselves. I would of said in a loud tone "I'll be a gentleman and offer you my seat." Then look around in disgust at the others in the other handicapped seats.
