What is it with the Bike People?!!! aaahhh!!

I get on bart to go to school and I'm coming into the car. This guy with his gygantor bike, says, "let me get off before you get in the train!" It was the way he said it. I'm all for a curt and vain tone, but this guy definitely took the cake with his "AWPMB [Angry While Pushing My Bike] Syndrome." I really wasn't in the mood for that. Especially since I was having a rather great morning to start. The bikers are really uptight about their entrance and exiting strategy...

This isn't a bike specific
This isn't a bike specific problem here Chrystal. Doesn't it make sense for the people trying to board to wait until the people exiting have done so?? It should be a very simple concept for even you to grasp. If a glass is full of water, do you first try to add more to it, or drink some first?
His tone could have been because he was thinking, what's with CMF (Clueless Me First) Syndrome!
I really don't care what your mood is. Common courtesy should prevail. That would dictate that you yield to exiting passengers whether they have a bike or not.
When ever I encounter this, I simply stop and wait in the doorway until the CMF people get out of the way. Or run over their toes.
Have a nice day!
the exiting problem i see
the exiting problem i see most often (not specific to bikers) is when the door opens and no one is standing near the doors. so, of course, people begin to flood into the car. then a few seconds later, someone decides that this is their stop and makes a move for the door, giving everyone the "what the fuck bitches? let me off first!!" dirty look.
if you aren't waiting at the door when the train comes to a stop, you lost your "exit first" privilege.
chrystal, what was the positioning of the biker when the doors opened? was the biker waiting by the door, was he still sitting, taking up two handicap seats and half the aisle when the train came to a stop?
i get pretty pissy sometimes
i get pretty pissy sometimes trying to exit the trains. i'm a pretty big guy, and have a small-ish (well, for me) bmx bike. i pretty much fill up the doorway getting on/off the train.
i commute about 4 to 6 days a week on bart, and whenever i try and exit at a crowded station one of two things happen:
-someone tries to squeeze past me into the train as i'm walking out...mind you i'm already standing right in the doorway as they open, so it's not like i don't look like i want out.
or
-there's a huge semi-circle-shaped group of people crowding the doors to get in, and when the door opens up i literally have to take one step out and wait for someone to figure out that things might move a little faster if they had formed a straight line to begin with. . .sometimes this can take a while.
okay, so this doesn't happen every single time i roll up into a station, but it happens enough for me to be pissy about it. i don't even like being pissy. i'd rather just bask in the glow of a good day's work and get home to my dinner.
i know ya'lls wanta geit on dat' der trayne naow, buts yooz iz gonna hafta waiyt a minnit.
