So the Bay Bridge is closing on Thursday evening at 8pm and re-opening on Tuesday at 5am. It's going to be PACKED out of the East Bay on Friday. I was going to get to work a normal 8-5 for a change, but I'm going to change it to 7-4 to possibly get a parking spot and maybe even a *gasp* seat.
I love how their position is "uh yeah, take Friday off if you can".

Actually the reason why the management caved in is because of the Bridge closing. You're really not too smart, are you? I am sure you're going to make some stupid remark back to me but that's ok. Since I see you name here all over the place you must be masterchief disguised. You are not fooling anyone but I guess you must sit at your parents house and wait for people to reply
Don't you feel alone in this battle? I guess not, since you are not all there. It's ok just keep replying.

As long as a SA does not double his salary of $65, its going to be ok. I was mad when I saw that only a few earned so much in overtime and most did not. Another thing was that overtime shifts were given to the seniors by priority. This is just b?ll?hit.

Senority is your lifeline in a union. There is a fair way that our union allocates overtime by senority.
Everyone starts with Zero hours at the begining of the year. If overtime is offered, the most senior person that has that day off is asked to work. If he says yes, he is charged 8 hours. If he says no, he is charged 8 hours. Then the next person is asked, and so on and so forth until the overtime is filled. Once they go through the whole list they start back at the top and repeat.
Now say a more seinor guy has 16 hours charged, but the guy below him only has 8 hours charged. The lower senority guy would be asked first if he wants to work.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. Basically the senior person gets the first crack at the overtime, but in the end everybody gets a chance, right? In the list of salaries published at the contracosta times website, how did a SA get almost $65,000 in overtime?

This is going to be a nightmare going home Friday night. It's already a nightmare unless we have a 9 or 10 car train. How is BART going to manage this when they run five car trains all night long? It is a cattle car already on Friday nights and then add luggage and alcohol; fun. Hope they have enough BPD on duty.
Because of the holiday weekend, hopefully, it won't be too bad for the morning workers. Maybe they'll all use the San Mateo Bridge and do us a favor. I can BART to San Mateo on Sunday if I want; how nice. I haven't been able to do that before because BART doesn't start running until 8:00 a.m. from the East Bay on Sundays and I would like to make a 9:00 a.m. class.
