Enough with music being played from yopur cell phones!

Every day I come across people playing music(not sounding good) loudly on their cell phones...enough already! Can I do anything to them except spit sunflower seeds at them? Seriously though...would Bart PD do anything to these guys?

It's not illegal to play music on your cell phone.

But on the train it's prohibited without headphones.

If only they could enforce it...I know this is small potatoes in the grand scheme, but really???

"Fights, Loud and Unreasonable noise, Fighting Words
California Penal Code § 415 Any of the following persons shall be punished by imprisonment in the county jail for a period of not more than 90 days, a fine of not more than four hundred dollars ($400), or both such imprisonment and fine: (1) Any person who unlawfully fights in a public place or challenges another person in a public place to fight. (2) Any person who maliciously and willfully disturbs another person by loud and unreasonable noise. (3) Any person who uses offensive words in a public place which are inherently likely to provoke an immediate violent reaction."

if you tell someone to turn down their music, the natural reaction of the scumball is going to be to piss you off by turning UP their music or threatening to fight you or swearing at you (or some combination thereof). any three of these things is against the law listed above. in theory, of course. in reality, nothing is going to happen to them unless there is a cop in close proximity with nothing better to do.

i recommend investing in a good set of noise isolating headphones. i haven't heard one ghettoblaster, phone conversation or annoying beggar since i got mine...

i use the etymotic er6. i got them for about $70 on amazon a few years back. while $70 sounds like a boatload for some tiny little headphones, i can honestly say it is the best $70 i have ever spent. they offer a 35 decibel noise reduction - you hear absolutely nothing but your music. it takes some getting used to. the first few weeks of a noise free bart ride were kinda eerie.

Dude, er6 for70 bucks is pretty good. I think I've had mine for about 4 years. I use the foam ear pieces because of how good they seal. Its nice to listen to music without having to crank it up too loud. These work great on airplanes too.

Or if you're like me and bust/lose your headphones regularly I got a pair of Blockade headphones. They aren't worth the price on Amazon's site by a long shot, but I got mine for dirt cheap on Woot so I bet there are some discount outlets out there.

I've said many times, Etymotic Ear Phones. If someone starts talking to me, I have to pull one out because I cannot hear them at all.

Looks like the trend from the 70's and 80's are back again. Remember boom boxes? Now your boom box fits in your pocket.

From a post two years ago? Really?
