Get Ready for More Riders on BART...

July 1 new influx of angry people...can BART provide a laminated list of what to do/not do when riding public transit?
And by that I know what they are...but how do we educate the new douche-bags that will be grabbing our seats, standing on the escalators etc...

Nah, because BART is probably
Nah, because BART is probably going to charge at least 25 cents more to cross the Transbay tube. See? Problem solved? And I thought we wanted more riders on public transportation, phew.
I'd rather have a $.25
I'd rather have a $.25 surcharge for the Transbay Tube than have them cut the Richmond and Fremont to SF trains. You want to talk about crowded trains while losing riders at the same time? Especially on the Richmond line. Reducing the direct trains outside of the peak period would equal a 65% reduction in service on the Richmond line. The Richmond line is a totally different animal than PBP or Fremont as the Downtown Berkeley station serves over 12,000 riders a day, second in the East Bay only to 12th Street by a few hundred riders. The Berkeley station keeps the trains full all day and long after the commute period ends. There should be some sort of pricing that charges more for the peak periods thru the Tube, similar to what is happening on the Bay Bridge, not a 65% reduction in service.
maybe if they hadn't built a
maybe if they hadn't built a fucking $6.2 BILLION DOLLAR BRIDGE that they didn't need (could have spent $10 million fixing the old one) they wouldn't need to gouge commuters like this
There is no way the old
There is no way the old bridge could have been fixed for $10 million.
we voted on this in one
we voted on this in one election after 1989, the choices were permanent fix or temporary fix. temporary fix won i think. but i think it was temporary fix and build a new bridge or permanent fix and keep the old bridge?
i hate it when the election ballots are worded like a billboard(and misleading)
i liked the article and about building a bike path across the west span to finish/complement the east span's bike path.
it would be great to have the bike path connect with the new transbay terminal in a way that works well. so people could ride all the way across the bay bridge on a bicycle and visit oakland or vice versa on the weekend.
