Does BART announce on the platform when trains are taken out of service?
I was at Walnut Creek on the platform waiting to board a train that was supposed to show up in five minutes. The train never came and there was no announcement. Just curious.

In my experience, no. They
In my experience, no. They usually just disappear off of the "Next Arrivals" sign. Poof! Gone, like they never existed, no mention over the speakers. Frustrating when you're using the real-time arrivals site on your phone and trying to catch a particular train.
Walnut Creek pm eastbound
Walnut Creek pm eastbound trains seem to be having problems lately. The 4:20 to SF is usually 3-4 minutes late and
has been plagued with either running slowly or stopping completely before it reaches Lafayette. The result is missing
the Fremont transfer at MacArthur and standing on the platform for another 15-20 mins. The 6 car train to Fremont
is sro by the time it leaves 12th st and needs to be at least 8 cars. Makes for a lousy ride home.
Bart doesn't change
Bart doesn't change announcements. I've had the same thing happen. Also had much shorter trains show up in place of longer ones. 6-car when a 10-car is on the board, that kind of thing.
I guess the information on the boards is just a "suggestion" of what might show up, and won't necessarily conform with reality.
