Bart hiring unfair
BART and the Board of Directors needs to closely examine and investigate the nepotism and favoritism on how recruiting is done. How can BART allow family members to hire directly in the same department as a report? Systems Maintenance, Mr. Williams has provided his daughter Kela Parris with all the resources to be hired on to BART. She was originally a temporary employee throught the temporary agency. After that time expired, she was then hired on as a Consultant for the Systems Maintenance. The managers in this department has made in extremely easy for her to be hired on, and making it unfair to other potential candidates. She should not be allowed to be hired in the same department under her father. BART's hiring practices are truly UNFAIR!!

My opinion , BART management
My opinion , BART management and the bargaining groups need to hire a 3rd party company to hire people/promote etc. (1/2 paid for by the management 1/2 paid for by the bargaining groups)
But, that would make it so cousins , brothers , sisters , kids wouldn't have an "in" so... neither side wants that.

As an employee with no family
As an employee with no family members at BART, that's a great idea. Great ideas at BART however, are very rarely shown the light of day. The nepotism and cousin problem is difficult to work around, especially when one is a foreworker and the wife is an operator, she will get better assignments and do little or no work, provided she and he are not on disability. There are several problem families like that and management is no exception.It really pisses off the people who like their job and play by the rules. It is, like so many things at BART an institutional problem going on for years. If we ever did get a G.M. who wanted to clean house and fix things, all the "Clampets" would be gone. Nice dream.
