both of you scoot in

It's commute time and both of you need to be sitting by the window. Who cares if your knees touch.

This is such a petty

This is such a petty complaint and not deserving of a posting or trying to shame the person. The nice thing about the 4-seaters is that you can move past someone sitting on the aisle to the window seat without anyone having to get up.

I board a SF train everyday and exit at Macarthur, so I always take the aisle seat in the 4-seat areas. No one has a problem getting the window seat next to me, and I can exit at Macarthur without having to bother anyone.

If you grab the aisle seat on a 2-seater for no good reason (like getting off in a stop or two on an uncrowded train), then you deserve mocking.

That's what I love about our

That's what I love about our country. The difference of opinion. I'm going to have to disagree. I've been riding bart for thirty five years and have witnessed first hand it's always more polite to scoot in. Plus, I've seen so many people trip on other people's feet trying to get in and out of the four seaters.

Being polite is one thing,

Being polite is one thing, but being practical is another. As someone who needs to get off early (before SF), I take the outside seat (in a 4-seater), and always pick up my bag and move my feet in when someone is taking the window seat. The alternative is for me to be on the window and have to trip over 3 others to get out at Macarthur. My point is, on BART, you have to choose your battles, and there are so many bigger issues that this....

i agree. when only 2 people

i agree. when only 2 people are sitting across from each other, its really weird. if someone else needs to sit THEN i'll slide over.
