Parking For Station Agents?
I was wondering if any current or previously employed station agents ever have/had trouble with parking once they got to work? I know some of the shifts begin about 4am and if you are working somewhere in downtown SF, or other stations without parking what you have done. If I'm scheduled to work at 24th & Mission for instance, I think the options would be limited. Thinking about applying but one of my concerns.

Downtown San Francisco has
Downtown San Francisco has parking available for opening and closing agents, but you need to leave early to drive through the city to get there in time, then you have to walk from Powell and Civic stations on your own with no protection at 1.30am to get to your vehicle.
24th and 16th are two of the worst, especially 16th. You have to walk past the addicts, pimps and pro's to get to your car in the garage, then leave it on the street and walk back into the station before closing. Then there is Coliseum. Agents have been attacked going to their cars at nightime. If you are going to be a part time agent, then you will be stuck over at Fruitvale, Coliseum, Bayfair, or San Leandro at the start of your career.
that sounds horrible. BART
that sounds horrible. BART doesn't protect its employees any better than that? No wonde rthey don't give a crap about system safety.
Bart police handle system
Bart police handle system security. Employees and Riders are treated equally. (actually I'm wrong, during the evenings, BART Police offer Escorts to customers if someone calls them. I've used it before)..
There is a less than stellar relationship between the workers and management.
There is also a less than
There is also a less than stellar relationship between passengers and management. Nothing but delays of late; single-tracking through TBT on Giants Games nights coupled with switching problems between Embarcadero and Montgomery. BART is becoming a JOKE. I think BART Management really Stinks AND THEY SAY THEY ARE TAKING PASSENGER CONCERNS AND SERVICE SERIOUSLY! YOU'VE GOT TO BE F'N KIDDING ME.
Thank you for the info. This
Thank you for the info. This definitely gives me a better idea of what to expect should I decide to pursue work as a station agent. For now, I think I will keep my office job. :)

Definitely stay in an office if you can--Station Agent is a crappy job, no matter how well paid they are.
