if only there were a bart station in vallejo
i'd be so happy. i could get to work and to my appointments on time, everytime.
i leave 1 hour and 30 minutes before work is to begin, it takes over two hours. what a mess I-80 is! i live 32 miles away from downtown sf, yet it takes me 2 hours to get to work. ridiculous.
yes, i am aware of the ferry system and the pleasant hill bart station. i do not feel like using the former because there it's all the way on the other side of town (ghetto central) and the latter, i will not pay $3 for toll for a 10 minute ride.

If BART went to Vallejo,
If BART went to Vallejo, we'd have that many more people griping here about how awful BART service is. So it's a good thing it doesn't do to Vallejo because I don't think I could stand the additional complaining.
first-- Solano County has
first-- Solano County has never paid into the bart system. do you recall how much $$ Santa Clara County was simply going to pony up to bart? as I seem to recall, it's somewhere in the 5 BILLION range. Now, is there any chance in hell Solano County will pony up one red cent? And this would probably be one station stop in Vallejo only, too, right?
How about the Richmond line being extended? Makes a lot more sense. bart owns a lot of real estate (aka: the right-of-way) going up toward the Carquinez Bridge. Would be nice just to have stops at Pinole and Crockett. With the open land available, and considering how horrible traffic is in the morning commute, it makes good sense to build a very large parking lot right off the highway (as El Cerrito Del Norte is presently), so those commuting from Solano County would have a better alternative. Would still have to cross the bridge, and pay the toll every day, though.
Just remember folks, tolls going up to four bucks in January. happy new year, huh.
The vehicle commute
The vehicle commute situation isn't going to get any better. Just take a look at the "tie-in" of the new Oakland span to Treasure Island, it makes the western approach project look like child's play. Add another hour or 2 in about 3 years. Solano Cty never bought into the BART District and I don't think it has the funding capacity like Silicon Valley to get into the deal. Consider the construction costs for a transit only bridge across the Carquinez Strait. It would be more effective if the Capital Corridor train service was increased so that it could be a feeder service to BART at the Richmond Stn, Emeryville (with bus transfer across the bridge) or Jack London with Lake Merrit transfer service. Frequent high speed ferry service might beat out rail service. Oh, by the way, toll will increase to $4 in January.
I wish Vallejo was not part
I wish Vallejo was not part of the bay area. It might as well be Napa or petaluma for how far away it is from everything.
Good post.. After all..
Good post.. After all.. YOU ARE PAYING FOR IT!
You can take West Oakland
You can take West Oakland waste-of-a-station station. That station slows down the whole system given the very limited number of riders who use it. How was that station ever justified?
West Oakland is the most in
West Oakland is the most in demand, it even has the higest parking fees at $5.00..
Montgomery is the busiest
Montgomery is the busiest station, but I'd say West Oakland has a lot of traffic, too. I think the people who call it a waste are just tired of getting delayed there. :)
